He put the Belt around my life
I heard the Buckle snap—
And turned away, imperial,
My Lifetime folding up—
Deliberate, as a Duke would do
A Kingdom's Title Deed—
Henceforth, a Dedicated sort—
A Member of the Cloud.
Yet not too far to come at call—
And do the little Toils
That make the Circuit of the Rest—
And deal occasional smiles
To lives that stoop to notice mine—
And kindly ask it in—
Whose invitation, know you not
For Whom I must decline?
Emily Dickinson
AUTUMN CLOUDS
That morning’s landscape is pleasant and exceptional;
A goose flies high into the heaven. The sky’s water has
Fallen, and autumn clouds are thin, the western wind has
Blown a million elements go into the firmament. Long
Rain has not harmed the land.
Darryl K. Porter
Dreamland was about to become very nightmarish
In as much as the car in which we all were riding
Exceeded the careful demands of a sharp and winding curve
Thereby breaching the protective guardrail and plunging off the cliff
One hundred and fifty feet into the deep dark waters
Below
I survived the ordeal only to see the others drowning
With their eyes bulging as so many innocent guppies
About to be devoured by some ancient creature of the deep
The water’s pressure crushing their precious little lungs
And each releasing their final and last breath before descending
Deeper
But you being a cold blooded amphibious creature
All scaly like a fish and with a powerful reptilian tongue
Reached out for me from the cold water beneath my feet
And placing a firm and debilitating grasp on both my legs you pulled me
Undertow
A heavier handed metaphor than I’d ever before

Cartoon world
A cartoon world would be nice to live in
Obstacles and problems moved with a pen
A simplistic uncontroversial place
Hatred and fear we could erase
Every house a happy home
No one ever need be alone
If ever I need a friend
They would be as near as my pen
The entire world my fantasy
Imagined and created by me
No sermons for me to hear
No lectures to dread or fear
Life would be one fun game
Drawn by me frame by frame
You and I some friends at times
Telling stories writing rhymes
Singing songs telling jokes
Never having to hear
“THAT’S ALL FOLKS”
A fantasy world I’d never leave
Possible I like to believe
If only for my mental ease

Fit
To feel in place could be a hard place to be for some.
Do they really like me?
Do they forget me as quickly as they saw me?
Or is this really my fears and insecurities talking, not the true manner of the people I have come to call a friend?
Alas I fear it maybe so.
I am the enemy..Whom I do not know.
Although I have you my friends, to hold my hand. To guide me through.
The people I know to be true.

Every Inch A Man
For as I look,
Or as you stand,
I know that you are,
Every inch a man.
Though short in stature
And low in strength
I know that you are
By what good deed's meant.
For a Man is short,
Or a Man is tall,
And a Man is a Man,
By what I recall.
For a Man can be young
Or a Man can be old
For a Man is a Man,
By what I've been told.
And as these words were softly spoke,
While letting go of Her trembling Hand
I knew at last, what She had known,
That Her Son, was every inch a Man.

Pedro
I hope you will take care of me when I am old
I live far
I don’t see much of you
If I live to see you grow
There is so much I want to tell you
My love
Let it enter your heart
Let the peace of the Lord enter in your heart
Pedro
I love you forever more
The night is bright
The sun will shine each morning early in your window
Play all you can
Because it is ok to be a kid
Because when you are older you won’t have much time for it anymore
So enjoy it while you can

Wimbledon
Wimbledon comes but once a year
For just two weeks of every year
Come rain or shine the game goes on
To aim to be champion of Wimbledon
The centre court the main event
Where all their skill and energy’s vent
The ball it flies at great speed
With hopes that your opponent is beat
To hear the roaring of the crowd
When all around you shouting loud
The pressure’s on you keep your cool
Willpower drives you through the pain
The match is yours you won the game
To join the honors list hall of fame
The cup it’s shining in the light
Because you were on your game this night

A Day in Bed
I wish I had not got a cold,
The wind is big and wild,
I wish that I was very old,
Not just a little child.
Somehow the day is very long
Just keeping here, alone;
I do not like the big wind's song,
He's growling for a bone
He's like an awful dog we had
Who used to creep around
And snatch at things--he was so bad,
With just that horrid sound.
I'm sitting up and nurse has made
Me wear a woolly shawl;
I wish I was not so afraid;
It's horrid to be small.
It really feels quite like a day
Since I have had my tea;
P'raps everybody's gone away
And just forgotten me.
And oh! I cannot go to sleep
Although I am in bed.
The wind keeps going creepy-creep
And waiting to be fed.
Katherine Mansfield
The milk boy
Early in the morning do i see him riding
going from door to door delivering milk for someone's morning tea
even though it rains
in the shade he never remains
moves and moves till the earth's grooves
to earn his daily bread.
he comes on his simple cycle
and calls everyone aunty and uncle;
'do you want some milk? '
I pity his state
an hard working milk boy.

The Locker Room
Ahhhh, the scent of stale testosterone
coupled with the smell of fresh sweat.
The locker room fails to separate the odors
of pretenders, contenders and champions.
The battle of sport supersedes war,
allowing losers the opportunity to try again.
Between heartbreak loss and expected victory,
the perceived experience and attitude
has different affects on one's nostrils.
I have inhaled both the stench of losing
and the fragrance of winning -
In either case, hit the showers afterward.

The colour white is but a, whiter shade of pale
Or it can be the colour, that is opposite of black
Or it can be the background
For a black and white film
That is about racial predudice
Or it can be the second colour of a penguin
Romping on a block of ice, in the snow
Or it can be the white of an eye
That belong to a human being
Or it can be the character paleface, in a western movie
